Gas Nitriding – Pit Type

At Apex Engineering, we offer advanced Pit Type Gas Nitriding and Ferritic Nitrocarburizing (FNC) using fully automated atmosphere-controlled furnaces with a dedicated Ammonia Cracker (Dissociated Ammonia - DA Generator). The controlled use of Ammonia (NH₃) and Dissociated Ammonia (DA) ensures precise nitriding potential, excellent process stability, consistent case depth, and repeatable metallurgical results for components weighing up to 1000 kg. 

Service Detail

Our Gas Nitriding Processes:

  • Gas Nitriding: A controlled thermo-chemical diffusion process in which nitrogen is introduced into the steel surface to improve surface hardness, wear resistance, fatigue strength, and service life while maintaining the core properties of the material.
  • Gas Nitriding + Post Oxidation:A duplex treatment combining Gas Nitriding with Post Oxidation to form a dense black oxide layer, significantly improving corrosion resistance, reducing friction, enhancing anti-galling properties, and providing an attractive black finish.
  • Ferritic Nitrocarburizing (FNC): A low-temperature thermo-chemical process that diffuses nitrogen and carbon into the component surface to provide excellent wear resistance, improved sliding properties, reduced friction, and enhanced fatigue strength with minimal distortion.
  • Ferritic Nitrocarburizing (FNC) + Post Oxidation: A duplex treatment combining Ferritic Nitrocarburizing with Post Oxidation to achieve superior wear resistance, excellent corrosion protection, improved anti-seizing characteristics, lower coefficient of friction, and a uniform black oxide finish.
